Shanghai University of Sport (SUS) kicked off its table tennis program at the 2016 Shanghai Summer School on July 7.

It’s the sixth time that the program has been held, this year attracting students from the Czech Republic, Egypt, Latvia, the UK, Spain and Mongolia.

During the program, students took part in a minimum of three hours table tennis training each day. They also attended on culture, Chinese language, calligraphy and paper cutting, as well as going on tours around the city, visiting landmarks such as the Oriental Pearl Tower and Yuyuan Garden.

The program is supported by the Shanghai municipal education commission, which is interested in helping students improve their skills and increase their understanding of China and its culture, as well as promoting friendship. Many of students express a desire to return in the future for more cultural exchanges.
