Located in Jiading district, the Shanghai Poly Grand Theatre is a new emblem of Shanghai's cultural cityscape. The crystal palace sits beside lake views and houses a main theater that can hold nearly 1,466 people and a 400-seat multi-functional hall. It opened on Oct 1, 2014, adding a new hall of grace to the western part of the city.

The theatre was designed by Tadao Ando, a Pritzker Architecture Prize winner who tend to create a natural presence of lights and shadows in architectural designs, using geometric figures. The theatre fully embodies his distinctive design elements, using fair-faced concrete material, natural architectural lighting effects and geometric interior designs.

Meanwhile, the theatre also offers night shuttle service to pick up and send spectators from and to nearby metro stations, including the Baiyin Road station (Line 11) and Caoyang Road station (Line 3).
