Estonia Voices, an a cappella vocal ensemble from Estonia in Eastern Europe, charmed Shanghai residents with their clear and pure voices on Oct 23.

The grand lawn at Jing'an Park in central Shanghai was crowded with locals eager to hear the performance of the melodious foreign choir, who were performing in China as part of the 2017 China Shanghai International Arts Festival.

The show featured jazz, folk and pop numbers, mostly original compositions and arrangements of folk music, but also some well-known worldwide hits.

The vocalists first performed together at the Estonian Christmas Jazz Festival in 2010, with Kadri Voorand, a jazz singer, composer and alto, leading the team.

Since then, their clear and recognizable voices have lingered long at not only all the biggest concert halls in Estonia, but also those in Germany, Russia and Sweden, and have even won the hearts of the New York Voices, an internationally renowned vocal ensemble that have been performing for 30 years.

The Estonian vocalists made their Shanghai debut at the local Daning Theater the day before, also gaining a highly positive reception from the audience.
