Lingang to host holiday activities

Lingang, a harbor town on the southeastern tip of Shanghai, will host several events during the upcoming May 1 Labor Day holiday.

Visitors can drive along the S2 Shanghai-Luchaogang highway, toward the Donghai bridge direction, to the Lingang New City exit, or take Metro line 16 and get off at Dishui Lake station.


1. Calligraphy and Chinese painting exhibition
The exhibition presents calligraphy and paintings by masters from the Ming and Qing dynasties (1369-1840), such as Zhu Yunming, one of the Four Talented Young Scholars in southern Yangtze River region in the Ming Dynasty.
Time: 9 am - 11:30 am, 1 pm - 4:30 pm, April 30 to May 18
Venue: Lingang Art Center (Shanlan Road) 临港艺术中心展厅(山兰路)

2. Cultural Heritage of ethnic Tibetans and Han groups
Exhibits include Thangka, Buddhist scriptures and Buddhist beads from Tibet, as well as various Hanfu, traditional costumes of the Han Chinese.
Time: 10 am – 5 pm, April 28 to May 3
Venue: 1st floor, Lingang Financial Building临港金融大厦一楼


3. Shaun the Sheep carnival
The popular animation from UK comes to Lingang and will delight children with different poses and expressions. Shaun-themed items---books, toys, mugs and T-shirts---are available at a souvenir store.
Time: April 29 to June 1
Venue: Shanlan Road, Dishui Lake滴水湖山兰路


4. Imported food supermarket
A 1,000-square-meter supermarket of imported food will open its doors late this month. It offers organic food, fruits, ingredients, wines, liquors, seafood, dairy and chocolates imported worldwide.
Time: 10 am – 5 pm, from April 28
Venue: 1st floor, Lingang Financial Building临港金融大厦一楼

5. Chinese food festival
More than 40 food stalls will present typical local snacks from every part of the Chinese mainland. There will be special canteens providing cuisine from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.
Time: 10 am – 6:30 pm, April 29 to May 3

6. Riders’ environmental protection campaign
About 30 riders from Shanghai Binhai Forest Park and Shanghai Bindao Saddle Club will circle the Dishui Lake to advocate environmental protection.
