Updated: 2015-05-13

To celebrate the 39th International Museum Day on May 18, the Aurora Museum in Pudong New Area will be free to visitors from May 16 to May 18.

This year’s International Museum Day is themed "Museums for a sustainable society", which emphasizes the role of museums in raising public awareness about the need for a society that is less wasteful, more cooperative and uses resources in a way that respects living systems.

To ensure a comfortable environment, a maximum of 3,000 visitors will be allowed per day. Last year, more than 5,000 people visited Aurora Museum on May 18. Free tickets will be available at the entrance from 9:30 am. Each visitor can apply for one ticket. Children under 1.3-meter-tall should visit with their parents.

Each of the three days, visitors can join three cultural lectures at the ground floor of the museum, where researchers from Institute of Archeology of Chinese Academy of Social Science will give lectures on protecting China’s cultural heritages.
