Small yellow minions, the funny figure in Hollywood blockbuster Despicable Me, will occupy the ground floor of Shanghai’s icon, Oriental Pearl TV Tower this May.

It is the first time that an exhibition themed with minions was held in China, where the banana-like creature has about 12 million fans.

With the slogan "Bello China", the exhibition will cover about 1,200 square meters. It has five zones: a miniature scene in the movie, a desert shop offering beverage, ice cream and candies themed with minions, a beach where visitors can take photos with minions in different poses, a multimedia interactive zone, and a small theater with trailer and clips of a minion movie that will be put on in the Chinese mainland this August.

More than 100 varieties of toys, bags, accessories and other minion themed items are available at a souvenir shop at the venue.

The organizer promised to donate 1 yuan from every ticket sale to a foundation that aids children with dangerous high level of lead in blood. China has about 6 million children who suffer high blood lead caused by heavy metal pollution, which damages the digestive, nervous and reproductive systems.
