Seven international students from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SHUFE), winners of the Confucius Institute Scholarship, toured Central China's Henan province from Oct 27 to 30.

The first stop of the tour was Kaifeng city, a historical and cultural center, to visit the picturesque Qingming Riverside Landscape Garden. Building upon the prestigious Chinese painting Riverside Scene during the Qingming Festival, the garden lively depicts ancient Kaifeng's scenery and local residents' daily life in the Song Dynasty (960-1279).

They also visited the city's tea cultural center, where they sampled a variety of tea and watched performances staging traditional Chinese tea culture.

They called on Yuntai Mountain Scenic Spot on their second day, one of the world's first World Geoparks and a national AAAAA scenic spot. Featuring grotesque rocks, sheer cliffs and steep mountains, the students were all amazed at nature's gorgeous masterpiece.

Driving along the winding mountain highway, the students reached Zhuyu Peak, main peak of Yuntai Mountain on Oct 29. Standing on the 1,308-meter precipice, the students were so excited that a few from Estonia even hanged dream locks and hoped for a bright future.

They then traveled to the Shaolin Temple at Mount Songshan in Dengfeng city for the last day. As one of the most famed temples in China, the students not only feasted their eyes on the grand halls, but also enjoyed excellent martial arts performances.

The students shared their feelings about the trip on their way back to school – from the magnificent natural landscapes to the splendid historical and cultural heritage, they were deeply impressed and hoped for further visits.
