Academic salon inspires international students at SJTU

A group of international students from Shanghai Jiao Tong University gathered at the university's Minhang Campus on Dec 24, 2016 to share their achievements and experiences with academic study.

After a warm welcome to each other, students sat in a circle to earnestly listen to the speakers.

The first speech was given by Muhammad Ishaq on Eigen Function Mode Matching for a Bifurcation Waveguide Problem. Although the topic was quite specialized, students actively discussed and asked questions about the topic.

Arshad Nawaz, a student from the Department of Automation who shared a topic on Micro-Grid Distributed Control with Cyber Physical Security, gave a professional talk that didn’t weakened the students’ enthusiasm in raising questions at all.

Md Abdur Razzak, from the School of Media and Design, shared the engaging topic "Social Media for Promoting Transparency in Bangladesh Climate Change Projects: A Case Study of Bangladesh Climate Change Trust". He analyzed the possibility whether social media could help enhance the transparency of Bangladesh Climate Change Projects, which struck a chord with attendees on many other public issues.

The students regarded the academic salon very rewarding, and expressed a desire to take part in similar activities in the future.
