A wind of generosity swept across Shanghai as the city's year-end month-long charity event, "Greatest Love under the Sky", drew to a close on Jan 7.

Organized as an annual tradition by the Shanghai Charity Foundation, this year’s charity drive, beginning on Dec 3, 2016, raised donations totaling 170 million yuan ($24.6 million).

A group of international students from the Shanghai International Studies University (SISU), engaging as volunteers, set out walking the city's streets to seek donations.

The pioneering team attended a charity fair held on Xingyuehui Business Street in the Hongkou district on Dec 3, 2016. By selling t-shirts and bags with distinctive SISU logos, the students raised 225 yuan in donations for needy families.

A group of students from Thailand, India and Indonesia also did their part on Jan 7. Though it was a bleak and rainy day, the students actively brought awareness to locals, trying their best to raise money for the cause.

Local residents highly praised the event and the student's efforts.
