The Spring Festival, as the most important traditional festival in China, is a joyous time for people, wherever they are, to go back home for reunions.

Many Chinese and overseas students from the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (SHUTCM), who chose to stay at school for the winter break, held a gathering on Jan 25 to celebrate the Spring Festival.

A collection of festive greetings from students, speaking various languages and dialects, ardently extended wishes for happiness and fortune to each other. Special phone calls between teachers and students' parents also warmed the festive air.

Closely following was a selection of performances, such as a classic dance mix from Mongolian students and an excellent Kung Fu show displaying the unique charm of Chinese martial arts.

The highlight of the gathering was the cooking of jiaozi (Chinese dumplings). From kneading and rolling dough to mixing ingredients, the students were all eager to try their hands. The distinctive Chinese New Year's tradition, which has lasted for thousands of years, also drew a spiritual bond among the students and teachers.

As a school tradition, SHUTCM holds a gathering every year to reunite students and teachers together, conducting various seasonal celebrations, extending wishes and building a more festive atmosphere across the campus.
