SJTU to further co-op with France

A delegation from France led by Laurent Wauquiez, president of the Regional Council of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, paid a visit to Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) on Feb 14 to seek educational cooperation between the two sides.

Officials from SJTU and its affiliate, Rui Jin Hospital, attended the meeting and extended a warm welcome to the delegation members.

Chen Guoqiang, vice president of SJTU, briefed the guests on the history and development of the university and its school of medicine, and also examined the prolonged and profound collaboration between the two countries.

Laurent expressed his gratitude to SJTU, calling for more cooperation with the university in the medical sciences. He also introduced several constructive ways for the two sides to cooperate, such as opening up online and bilingual courses for students and conducting more exchanges between Shanghai, Ottawa and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes in fields like clinical drug research.

Chen expressed his consent with Laurent along with signing a letter of intent to further the Sino-French cooperation, which consists of a clear plan to strengthen educational and scientific connections, and student exchange projects.

After the meeting, the French delegation also paid a visit to the medical simulation center of Rui Jin Hospital to receive a brief presentation of its cutting-edge technology for research and teaching.
