With springtime just around the corner, the International Cultural Exchange School of Donghua University (DHU) has arranged for overseas students to take a one-day tour around the metropolis of Shanghai on Mar 11.

Starting at 9:30 am, students will join hands with their Chinese guides for one of two recommended routes.

Culture lovers will prefer the first itinerary, featuring popular cultural sites like Sinan Mansion, a well-preserved garden villa with vast lawns, beautiful furniture and delicious food.

At 210 Taikang Road, Tianzifang ranks perennially high among tourists. Crowded with restored shikumen buildings (a predominant form of local housing from the 1860s to the 1930s), bars, cafes, souvenir stands, retail stores and creative spaces, the area is a perfect combination of history and modernity.

Students wanting to get closer to nature can choose the second route, walking the Riverside Promenade and viewing the splendid scenery along the Huangpu River.

Students will also learn more about the city at the Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Center, appreciating a large scale model of urban Shanghai and gaining an excellent perspective of the city's past, present and future.

A total of 30 students can be accommodated on each route, touring in groups of five to six. A special DHU public transportation card, which can be used for buses, subways and taxis, will be offered free to participants, helping cover a transportation fee of 30 yuan.
