International students from New York University Shanghai (NYU Shanghai) enjoyed a local food challenge night on Feb 21.

The night featured several tasty local snacks, allowing the students to sample new delicacies while getting to know each other better.

Divided into two teams, the students undertook the first challenge of trying different foods while attempting to figure out who was the "lucky guy". The second challenge saw the teams struggling to describe the flavor of foods using only the Chinese language, a difficult task for the language beginners!

Teamwork was essential. The students discussed and shared their language knowledge, trying their best to describe the flavors.

Although the outcome was too close to call, the students were delighted with the chance to try tasty Chinese food, including seasoned duck gizzard, stewed beef tendons, fermented glutinous rice and guilinggao (turtle jelly).
