Some 306 international students from all over the world attended Shanghai University on Feb 27 to register for the new spring semester.

Thanks to the school's thoughtful preparation and the volunteers' warm help, the newcomers went through their registration smoothly and quickly.

They also got first-hand experience on living and studying at the university, as well as a special gift pack from the school, consisting of a student handbook, a guide to living in Shanghai, a hand-drawn map of the school, and an activity schedule.

The school also helped the new arrivals settle in to their new surroundings by organizing an orientation on Feb 28.

The international students were given a warm welcome by teachers and senior students at the orientation, and got a chance to get to know each other by taking part in various ice-breaking games like Shall We Make Friends?, a game where the students exchanged cards with basic personal information about themselves.

Teachers from the school's research center, international student affairs office and logistics service center also tried their utmost to answer the students' questions on studying and living in Shanghai.
