Five overseas students from Donghua University (DHU) were invited to attend the opening ceremony of a Chinese culture base held at the northwestern city of Hanzhong from March 24 to 26.

Some 100 students and teachers from 10 universities across Shanghai, Beijing, Xi'an and the United States, including Beijing Foreign Studies University, East China Normal University, Shaanxi Normal University and the University of Hawaii, were in attendance.

Aimed at providing the foreigners with a better platform for approaching Chinese language, culture and society, the base is founded upon a variety of practical academic and experiential activities, such as visiting the city and surrounding region’s historical sites, appreciating nearby ecological landscapes, experiencing unique folk customs in rural areas, and attending short-term studies at Shaanxi University of Technology.

A cooperative framework agreement was also achieved between DHU and Hanzhong at the ceremony, designed to give DHU students better opportunities to delve into Chinese culture in the northwestern city.
