A table tennis competition between overseas students studying at Shanghai Polytechnic University (SSPU) drew to an end recently.

Spanning from late March to early April, the two-week event was aimed at building closer ties between students and helping promote good health.

A large crowd of overseas students were actively engaged, including some exchange students from foreign universities and others majoring in Chinese language studies.

Adhering to the spirit of "Friendship first, competition second", the students tried their utmost to find advantage over their competitors, as well showing off their talents in keeping harmony with the table tennis bats and small plastic balls.

After the two weeks of eliminations, Jonanneo and Marcush from Sweden and Dan Shi from Kazakhstan were ranked as the first, second, and third places in men's singles. An Qi from Mongolia, Tian Fen from Laos, and Michelle from Germany shared the top three respectively in women's singles.

The students expressed their gratitude for the event, which made them feel motivated, experience the unique charm of the sport, and helped increase their sense of belonging and participation. They also looked forward to more similar activities in the future.
