Thai teachers sharpen classroom skills in Shanghai

A visiting group of teachers from the Confucius Institute at Prince of Songkla Univer-sity in Phuket, Thailand, started a two-week cultural immersion trip to Shanghai, East China, on Oct 13.

The delegation received a warm welcome from Shanghai University, with which it has had an 11-year partnership.

Yang Jing, deputy dean of the College of International Exchange at Shanghai University, said he was looking forward to the teachers' involvement in Chinese culture over the two weeks. Yang also encouraged teachers to converse and exchange more with their Chinese partners and try hard to enhance their language teaching capabilities.

The teachers were also briefed on the history and development of Shanghai University, the various cultural activities they were to attend, and received several tips concerning basic living in Shanghai.

The Confucius Institute, jointly run by Shanghai University and the Prince of Songkla University, has achieved remarkable results in recent years, helping Chinese study remain attractive to Thai students, opening up frequent cultural exchange programs and organizing regular language proficiency tests.
