The campus of East China University of Science and Technology (ECUST) was adorned with colorful cultural displays as the Shanghai-based college opened its second international cultural festival on Oct 27.

A series of dancing performances featuring unique Lao, Yemeni, Kazakhstani, Mongolian and Chinese elements raised the curtain on the extravaganza.

The annual event, which was also a celebration of the school's 65th anniversary, gave full exposure to diverse cultures from more than 20 countries.

On one hand, mouth-watering dishes such as Vietnamese spring rolls, goat milk tea, chicken pies and pilaf replete with mutton satisfied visitors' taste buds, while Egyptian pyramid artifacts, Pakistani paintings and Saudi Arabian costumes caught visitors' eyes.

The visitors found the festival very enticing and rewarding, such as Simon, the only Haitian at ECUST. He said it was a good opportunity to broaden his horizons and make friends. Goukouni from Chad said he was totally immersed in the delicacies, the art works and the displays from various cultures.
