World-famous watchmaker Guo Ming recently gave a lecture to students and teachers at Shanghai Polytechnic University (SSPU) about his inspired craftsmanship and unique artistry.

Guo's bilingual lecture served not only to introduce students and teachers to the history and development of fine horology but also to share his enthusiasm and passion for the mechanical art.

Asked a range of questions by the Chinese and overseas students, Guo said he was inspired to continue committing himself to watchmaking and to helping cultivate talent wherever he can.

With a workshop in Shanghai, Guo Ming is a successful watchmaker, but he is also the latest and youngest candidate at the Académie Horlogère des Créateurs Indépendants (AHCI), a Switzerland-based association working to keep the traditions of fine horology alive and well.

Guo's years of consistent dedication to creating handmade timepieces has gained him a worldwide reputation for excellence. His exclusive design of a tourbillon pocket watch, from rough sketches through to the exquisite finished timepieces, impressed aficionados at 2017 Baselworld, the world’s preeminent watch and jewelry industry show.

Meng Zhaoshang, dean of SSPU's International Exchange College, expressed his gratitude to Guo Ming and his hopes for more cooperation with the master watchmaker in the future.
