A fashion show featuring traditional costumes from 32 countries raised the curtain of the 7th International Cultural Festival at Donghua University, Shanghai, on Oct 29.

The biennial extravaganza, which was designed as a platform connecting Chinese and overseas students, has developed to be a famous cultural brand among young people in the city.

This year's edition attracted hundreds of students and teachers from Turkey, Malaysia, Mexico, and Iran, as well as alumni and representatives from the Cambodian and Indonesian consulates.

By setting up various booths, the students tried their utmost to share their unique cultures. The costumes, landscape photos and handicrafts were really enticing, while the mouthwatering dishes, such as the Turkish doner kebab, South Korean kimchi pancake, and the Mexican taco, satisfied the attendees' taste buds.

The event also saw a new master's program taking shape at Donghua. The English-delivered program, which focuses on new energy materials and devices for optical engineering, will enrich the school's present academic strength in textiles, materials, information technology, and chemical engineering.

Donghua University has endeavored to create a more open campus atmosphere in recent years. Its over 30,000 overseas graduates have played active roles at educational, economic and other international stages. The school's sound relationships with the city’s local governments, enterprises, S&T innovation centers, and free trade zone also provide diverse development paths for the students.
