An agreement signed between Shanghai University and the Uzbekistani University of World Economy and Diplomacy on Dec 27 has strengthened the two schools' strategic cooperation.

The Shanghai campus has long enjoyed a sound relationship with its Uzbekistani partner and, this time, the two sides decided to co-run a school of international business, which will be built at the Uzbekistani campus. The admissions will begin in 2018.

The new school marks Shanghai University's first step towards setting up an overseas campus in the Middle East, and also promotes the two schools’ dedication to cultivate industry elites to a new level.

Some 30 experts, scholars and scientific researchers from China and Uzbekistan also shared their ideas on the Belt and Road Initiative, covering the fruitful educational and economic results the two countries have achieved, and also stating their expectations for future cooperation.

The campus of the Uzbekistani University of World Economy and Diplomacy is renowned for having an immersive Chinese cultural atmosphere. Last year, the school held a series called "China Week", attracting thousands of students and teachers towards the five-day cultural immersion activities.
