Chinese poetry enchants Fudan intl students

Audiences comprising fifty overseas students from Fudan University in Shanghai were thrilled at the fluency of contestants in an on-campus Chinese poetry recital contest held on Sept 26.

The students' eagerness and well preparation contributed the overall success of the event. Their participation was a boost to the confidence of the contestants and judges as they jeered in support.

The various ancient and modern poems staged with fluent Chinese, decent costumes and rich feelings, won praise and applause from the audience.

Notable were poems such as Nostalgia, Rainy Alley, Moon at the Fortified, Watery Prelude Melody, and Delighting in Rain on a Spring Night, espoused the performers' devotion to Chinese culture and their unique understanding of the lyrics.

First and second prizes were awarded to an individual and a group of participants. Judge Xu Tingting also made reviews on various performances.

The students regarded the contest as a good platform to learn from each other. It encouraged them to delve into Chinese literature and make adequate preparation for the upcoming city-level Chinese poetry contest.
