Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE) held a graduation ceremony for its Chinese language and exchange students on Jan 5.

Accompanied by a song of celebration and praise, the ceremony began with school teachers and student representatives extending their congratulations to the students' hard work over the past semester.

Xie Xinyang, a teacher representative, sent students a unique greeting message – the Chinese saying "A bosom friend afar brings a distant land near", in hope that the youngsters carry out more international cultural exchanges in the future.

Anne Elisabeth Wiebes, a student from the Netherlands who was among the award winners for their performance and diligence of the semester, said she was glad to study Chinese at SUFE and she also showed her gratitude to all the help she received from her teachers.

She joined her classmates for a chorus of the classic Chinese melody Where is My Friend, leaving the easy and festive air lingering long.

The students were excited to share their joy, as some bestowed Chinese culture as an important part of their lives and determined to continue learning Chinese, while others shared their sweet memories of living and studying at SUFE.
