Qian Xuesen Library opens New Year celebrations

A series of activities celebrating the Spring Festival was launched at the library of renowned aerospace scientist Qian Xuesen in Shanghai Jiao Tong University on Feb 18.

The opening day attracted many local residents, including young fans of the scientist, veteran engineers, as well as visitors coming all the way from Northwest China.

Aside from the conventional displays of photos, documents and infographics recording Qian's stories, the series also included celebrations of the Chinese New Year of the Dog, and movies and lectures telling how Qian was nurtured by Chinese and Western cultures and set up his mind to develop China's aerospace industry.

Visitors also have the chance to receive extra gifts from the library, including a New Year card with curator Qian Yonggang's signature, son of Qian Xuesen and also an engineer of computer software.

The series will be open on Tuesdays to Mondays and will last till March 2.
