Some 60 international students from Shanghai Polytechnic University (SSPU) basked in a joyous mood celebrating the Lantern Festival on March 2.

The festival is a traditional occasion for family reunions as it brings forth the first full moon after the Lunar New Year.

In a wish of bringing students closer and engaging them in the "SSPU big family", the students were introduced to the traditional culture and invited to various cultural activities, such as guessing lantern riddles, making festive lanterns, and eating yuanxiao, glutinous rice flour dumplings with sweet stuffing.

Sarah Waters, an exchange student from Belgium, said it was his first time visiting China and celebrating the Spring Festival and the Lantern Festival.

"It's a good chance for me to learn about China in such a short time and I hope I can have more of such experiences at SSPU," Sarah said.
