A ping pong competition for international students started at Shanghai's Fudan University on April 18, firing up sports fever on the campus.

With participants and spectators still clearly impressed by the badminton competition held last week, the table tennis event attracted a large crowd of vocally enthusiastic international students.

The highlight of the competition was one female competitor demonstrating extreme talent in keeping the table tennis bats and small plastic balls in complete harmony, proving herself equal to any male competitor.

The event culminated with Qiu Yi, the female winner, challenging a male player and reasserting her dominance in the "blue desk" arena. The fierce competition aroused much interest from curious spectators.

The male first place winner was Hiroshi Hasegawa from Japan.

Both participants and spectators said they enjoyed the event. Many spectators noted they would enjoy playing table tennis recreationally, and perhaps in competition in the future.
