The elimination stages of China Exploration, a national competition launched by the Ministry of Education every year challenging overseas students' athletic and cultural capabilities, are providing vigorous competition around the country.

The Shanghai city-level knockout hit the road on May 26-27, gaining participation from 13 local universities and colleges, with each team consisting of nine international and two Chinese students.

With the aim of enriching the students' campus lives, inspiring their interest in learning Chinese culture, and encouraging stronger ties between Chinese and foreign students, the two-day event witnessed these young people showing their skills and morale in three-on-three basketball matches, their cooperation and navigation in the orienteering section, and their integration of Chinese dances and martial arts.

The teams from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai University of International Business and Economics, and Shanghai Lixin University of Accounting and Finance achieved the highest scores and qualified for the next round.

They will compete on behalf of Shanghai at the Southeast China regional elimination stage from June 7 to 10 for entry to the final national competition in September.
