People living in the neighboring communities of Shanghai Jiao Tong University were quite familiar with the cultures of Myanmar and Greece, thanks to visiting foreign students last year.

A school tradition, this year's sharing focused on Pakistani and Indonesian cultures, with students from the two countries carrying out two promotional activities on April 28 and May 20.

They shared with local residents their countries' geographical landscapes, customs and practices, as well as treating them to various snacks and special dishes.

The Indonesian students put on an angklung show – a distinctive musical instrument which is made of several bamboo tubes attached to a bamboo frame and which produces an enchanting and resonant sound.

The students also took part in local activities and engaged in traditional Chinese culture.
