A group of 40 high school students from Australia and Russia embarked on a two-week summer camp in Shanghai on July 1.

The camp was organized by Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) and received support from Hanban, the Confucius Institute headquarters in Beijing.

The students will spend their two weeks immersed in various activities and courses, embracing Chinese culture, learning about the country's development, experiencing local customs and practices, and getting to know about SJTU as an institution.

The youngsters expressed their gratitude for having the opportunity to visit Shanghai and learn about China. They said their understanding of the city has been enhanced since their arrival and they were enjoying making new friends during the trip.

Luo Peng, a school official, said he was honored, on behalf of SJTU, to welcome so many students with diversified cultural backgrounds. He hoped the camp will give the students inspiration for their future studies.
