SSPU bids farewell to overseas students

Shanghai Polytechnic University (SSPU) held a graduation ceremony for six overseas students from Mongolia, Kazakhstan and Laos on July 24.

Enkhbold Oyundari, a Mongolian graduate, expressed her appreciation of the school giving her constant support over the years and encouraged her junior fellows to make the most of their time there.

Thavone Luanglath, father of Thavone Luanglath, a Laotian graduate, was proud to watch her daughter at the graduation ceremony and glad to see the efforts her teachers have made to cultivate his daughter from a budding student to an accomplished graduate.

Song Baoru, Party secretary of SSPU, extended his congratulations to the students. He spoke highly of how they overcame the difficulties of studying and living abroad, and hoped the youngsters would continue the friendships and bonds they have made in their time at the university in the future.
The students were then awarded graduation certificates and took group photos.

Taiken Lina, the first overseas postgraduate at SSPU, was also awarded for promoting cooperative cultural exchanges between SSPU and Kazakhstani higher institutions.

Students who secured third place in the group category of an international student tai chi competition organized by the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission also received a reward from the school.

SSPU welcomed its first group of overseas students in 2011. Seven years on, the number of students studying at SSPU every year has grown from an initial mere 20 to a figure nowadays of more than 300, with focuses being on academic studies, language improvement, and exchange visits.
