International students from more than 100 countries graduated from Tongji University in Shanghai June 27, with the school holding a commencement ceremony to mark the occasion.

Yu Yu and Liu Shuyan, two officials promoting the school's international education programs, each turned the tassel on every student's cap, presented them with graduation certificates, and had the moment captured in an official photo.

Twenty students from 16 countries were tasked as school coordinators with helping to strengthen connections between Tongji, its alumni and their home countries.

The graduates reflected on their lives at Tongji, shared their experiences of studying and living in China, and said they looked forward to seeing their alma mater develop in the future.

Graduates then staged a variety of song and dance performances, including Marrabenta, a passionate southeastern African dance combining traditional Mozambican rhythms and Portuguese traditional melodies, and a choral performance of Youth Autograph Book, both of which won extended applause from the audience.
