The results of the Chinese speech activity for college students in Shanghai, which was themed "New era, Chinese dream, My story", were released June 27.

Overseas students from Shanghai International Studies University (SISU), Shanghai Polytechnic University (SSPU) and Shanghai University (SHU) achieved several honors in the activity.

Initiated in late January, the activity has received 86 works from 33 universities and colleges in Shanghai during the past five months. After three selection rounds, 16 students from 12 universities and colleges qualified for the final.

"I love China, not only for the delicious food, but also for realizing my Chinese dream – to be a great diplomat, who can deepen friendship and promote cultural communication between China and Morocco," said Chen Anyi, a Moroccan from Shanghai International Studies University.

Chen used to be a student of the mathematics department of the University of Hassan II Casablanca. After learning Chinese at a Confucius institute for one year, he chose to come to SISU for further Chinese study.

Chinese swordsmen films originally sparked Chen's interest in China. When he was young he dreamed of exploring the secrets of Chinese martial arts at Shaolin Temple. However, he came up with more ideas after in-depth study and research about Chinese culture, and was fascinated by the customs, dialects and cuisine of various regions in China.

The 16 contestants expressed their understanding of the Chinese dream with true feelings against the background of the new era, showing the confidence of contemporary college students. Their excellent performances won applause from the judges and the audience.
