A group of 44 international students wrapped up their month-long sports and cultural program at the Shanghai University of Sport (SUS) on July 31, putting on various martial arts and table tennis performances at the closing ceremony.

Along with sharpening their athletic skills, the students immersed themselves in a number of Chinese cultural activities, such as urban sightseeing, watching acrobatics shows, trying challenging outdoor expeditions, and acting in Kunqu plays, one of the oldest forms of Chinese opera, going back over 300 years.

Wang Xingfang, vice-president of the university, bid farewell to the students leaving the program and wished them well for the future. He also invited them to attend more short-term programs arranged by SUS.

Two student representatives from Italy and the Czech Republic expressed their gratitude to the university, saying that the time went by very fast but every day was filled with joy and happiness.

Teachers from the program then issued leaving certificates to the students and volunteers.

Part of the 2018 Shanghai Summer School series, the annual martial arts and table tennis programs at SUS has welcomed seven groups of students from all over the world, bringing about cross-cultural friendships and cultural bonds.
