Winter Chinese Language Program (Shanghai International Studies University)

Mainly Chinese courses including Listening Comprehension, Conversation and Reading. This program is provided at three levels: beginner, elementary and intermediate. (Each level will be available only if there are more than 10 students.)

Four teaching sessions each morning (8:30-11:50), Monday through Friday. Also available are elective courses such as Chinese Calligraphy, Taijiquan (shadow boxing) and Chinese Paper Cutting. The minimum enrollment for each course is 20 students. These courses are taught in the afternoon.


Inner city tours are offered once a week.

Weekend tours are available at students’ own expense.


The Winter 2014 Program has one session, running from 1 to 3 weeks, starting from January 13 to January 29. Registration date is on January 10, 2014 

The exact opening date is specified in the Acceptance Letter.

Application period

By completing all application procedures before December 1st 2013, the applicant can get a JW202 form and Acceptance Letter from us. ② After December 1st 2013, the applicant can only get an Acceptance Letter by fax or email and therefore needs to apply for a visa to China by himself.

Group applications are welcomed and the courses and schedules may be varied according to the group’s requirements. Please contact the Office of International Student Affairs if you have any special requests.
