Profile

Shanghai International College of Culture (SICC) is a non-government sponsored college which is located at No 202, south of Shanxi Road. The location is an oasis of serenity amid the chaos in the downtown Shanghai.
Over 3,000 foreign students from more than 30 different countries have studied in SICC since its establishment in 1989; the school’s administration is devoted to spreading Chinese language and culture to foreigners, and providing high quality education to its students. It offers a variety of study courses and consultancy services for selection.
At present, the faculty of SICC consists of 12 full-time teachers and 18 part-time teachers who are proficient in at least one foreign language and well trained in Chinese teaching. More than 200 overseas students are studing at SICC, and it also organizes various cultural trips, family visits and other visit activities at the students’ request.
The school has a long history of international exchanges and cooperation with diverse regional education organizations such as the Faculty of Arts of Nantes University in France, Yew Wah International Education Foundation in Hongkong and Kanwajuku and Asia Culture Center in Japan.
The other teaching venue of SICC is located at No 37, south of Shuicheng road in the Gubei Community, in Chang Ning district.

Cost

Application fees:
150 yuan for applicants who do not apply for an X-visa
450 yuan for applicants who need to apply for an X-visa
Fees for books and accessories:
Subject to the actual prices, usually around 150 yuan for one semester/ per person.

1.    Long-term Courses (Minimum 5 students per class)
20 lessons/per week: 9,000 yuan / one semester
                   17,500 yuan / two semesters
12 lessons/ per week: 7,560 yuan / one semester
8 lessons/per week: 5,500 yuan/ one semester
2.    Short-term Courses: (Minimum 5 students per class)
20 lessons/per week: 3,400 yuan /1 month (4 weeks)
                    6,400 yuan /2 months (8 weeks)
                    8,640 yuan /3 months (12 weeks)
                    1,000 yuan for 1 week
                    1,800 yuan for 2 weeks
                    2,600 yuan for 3 weeks
3.    Individual Teaching:
a.     Chinese Language
One student class: 90 yuan / per lesson
Two student class: 75 yuan / per lesson / per person
Three student class: 60 yuan / per lesson / per person 
Four students class: 50 yuan / per lesson / per person
b.    Coaching for HSK and other special programs
One student class: 100 yuan / per lesson
Two students class: 85 yuan / per lesson / per person
Three students class: 70 yuan / per lesson / per person
Four students class: 60 yuan / per lesson / per person
Note: An increase of 10 percent of the tuition fees is charged for evening and weekend courses.
Cultural Courses: (The tuition listed below is for individual teaching. For small-size class teaching, the tuition varies with the number of students in the class.)
a.     Traditional Chinese Instruments:

b.    Chinese Painting:

c.     Calligraphy:

Study tour for retired people: tuition varies subject to the contents of Chinese language study and cultural trips.
Living fees: approximately 7,000-8,000 yuan per month
Entry requirement: any foreigner with legal China-entry visa and willing to learn.
Two Courses offered:
The college will issue a certificate to students who fulfill the course requirements and studies for a minimum of 80 class-hours.
a Long-term Courses: Half a year (one semester) to one year (two semesters)
b Short-term Courses: From one week up to 3 months.
c Individual Courses: Tailored courses to each student
d Spare-time Courses: Courses in the evening from Mon-Fri, and daytime at weekends.
