Profile

Shanghai Institute of Technology is a full-time school aiming to build a campus atmosphere with high-level, application-oriented, and work-based features.

There are approximately 17,000 full-time students and some 1,000 full-time teachers at SIT, including 400 doctoral tutors, master tutors, and teachers with high-level professional titles.

The school has won numerous national and provincial-level science and technology progress awards, outstanding teaching achievement awards, and has also undertaken various national and local scientific fund projects.

The school mainly offers four-year undergraduate education, as well as three-year vocational (college) education.

The school includes 19 departments, covering disciplines such as engineering, science, literature, laws, economics, management, and agriculture. The 44 undergraduate programs mainly cover areas such as materials, machinery, automation, computer science and information engineering, civil engineering and construction, environment and energy, chemical industry, biology and food, artistic design, economics and management, foreign languages, social science, convention and exposition economy and management, gardening, and painting.

The school currently has two campuses, the Xuhui Campus and the Fengxian Campus. Xuhui Campus is located in the southwestern corner of Shanghai and is adjacent to the Caohejing Hi-Tech Development Zone. The newly completed Fengxian Campus (main campus) is located in Hangzhou Bay, Fengxian district.

Foreign students at the school have opportunities to receive sponsorship from the Shanghai Municipal Government Scholarship.

The school is also committed to cultivating application-oriented professionals with innovative ideas, practical abilities, and international perspectives. It strives to develop itself as “a cradle of top engineers”.

Requirements

Entry requirements for undergraduate programs:

a. High school diploma, good health, between the ages of 18 to 40;
b. Reliable financial guarantee, student guardian;
c. HSK certificate level 4 (above 180 scores); unqualified applicants have to first attend Chinese language programs or preparatory courses at the school.

Entry requirements for postgraduate programs:

a. Applicants for master degree studies must have a bachelor’s degree and be between the ages of 21 to 40;
b. Good health, reliable financial guarantee, student guardian;
c. HSK certificate level 4 (above 180 scores); unqualified applicants have to first attend Chinese language programs or preparatory courses at the school.
