The two-week cultural immersion in Shanghai provided 35 students from a Russian study group with enlightening perceptions of the city.

Shanghai University, a higher learning institution with discerning international perspectives, played host to the program. It was initiated on July 21 and drew to a successful conclusion on Aug 2.

The two weeks have seen students developing in various aspects. First in regards to language immersion, they have grown from "stammering" out a single word to fluently introducing themselves in Chinese.

They also developed interests in Chinese painting, calligraphy and operas, and took an authentic tour around Shanghai landmarks, such as the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, Disneyland Resort, and Shanghai Urban Planning Museum.

The local Volkswagen and Yakult manufacturing centers stunned the students with tidy working environment and highly automatic equipment. While the neighboring city of Suzhou, where ancient water town flavors have lingered around for centuries, impressed the students with its unique softness.

The students took group photos at the closing ceremony on Aug 2, turning their experiences in China into unforgettable memories.
