A summer program for 14 students from Middle East countries including Morocco, Egypt and Algeria, concluded at Shanghai International Studies University Aug 3.

The four weeks have left the students with many enjoyable memories, such as learning Chinese and taking lectures, visiting residential areas and getting to know locals' daily lives, and touring neighboring cities.

The students were also eager to share their feelings, with Fatna Ikrame from the Confucius Institute at University Hassan II Casablanca in Morocco describing the program as "the best experience I have had".

Aya Mostafa Abdelaziz, from Ain Shams University in Egypt, expressed gratitude for the program for offering her an opportunity to learn Chinese and meet new friends. She expressed special preference for Shanghai parks, especially Luxun Park, saying the scenes of elderly citizens exercising energetically inspired her.

The program, under the title of 2018 Shanghai Summer School series, was launched by the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission and arranged by the Shanghai International Studies University. Hundreds of students from across the globe come to Shanghai every year to sharpen their linguistic, cultural and professional skills.
