The month-long international summer session at Fudan University concluded on Aug 9, bidding farewell to some 400 students from 33 countries and regions.

The session opened on July 11 and invited students to select up to three professional courses in 19 fields such as economics, history, culture, society, politics, law, and science. Chinese immersion courses were also arranged for students with different language fluency.

The students visited hospitals, law firms, farmlands, carmakers, and environmental protection equipment factories to sharpen their professional skills. And the must-see destinations, such as the Bund, the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, Tianzifang, and Shanghai Museum, introduced them to diverse aspects of Shanghai.

Their understanding of Chinese culture was enlivened through various hands-on activities such as practicing Chinese painting, calligraphy, archery, tai chi and making dumplings.

The two-day outings to Tongli and Hangzhou in neighboring Zhejiang province unveiled tranquil and picturesque Jiangnan, a region at the lower reaches of the Yangtze River with profound culture, pleasant climate, and abundant natural resources.

At the graduation ceremony on Aug 9, the students shared the inspirations they gained from living and studying in Shanghai and expressed their gratitude for the considerate help from local students and teachers.

They also staged various singing and dancing performances, creating a celebratory atmosphere.
